Staying up late and waking up ... late seems to be a very common habit of the citizens in AIT. One can make an excuse by saying it's changed due to the academic calendar here. Physically it doesn't matter that much to the health of anybody. However, people do not want to shut up or keep silent at very late of the night. Staying up late relates to watching TV, movies, drinking or playing music loudly. Some don't have entertainment that way, instead they gather together at the other's window corner or stairway to gossip, loudly and naturally at 2:00am.
People don't care to the others. Talking too loudly is considered impolite in this modern time. Perhaps a part of this world just think to get a degree in terms of academic could make their appearance different? Regarding to this action of opening and shutting up the mouth, there are several funny things which happen in AIT everyday. Want to know more? Let's see following things:
- Shouting, calling each other from downstair to somebody on the 3rd floor. - Calling someone on the bus. - Chatting in the class time. - Making a restaurant their own place - eating and talking so loudly. - Cheering with beer or alcohol in the restaurant. - Turning up the audio volume which disturbs the neighborhood.
This is just about the things that your ears feel. How about the eyes? Your eyes have to see so many uneasy thing crossing by everyday. A lady or man with his pyjamas in the public (dinning room) is so common over here in AIT. Maybe natural feeling of the atmosphere here makes people feel they posses the place. On the walkways, one can easily observe a group of 4-6 people walking and occupying the whole lane. On the other corners, lots of people jump queue in the cafe, at the cashier, in the bank or at 108 mini mart. People sometimes entertain the others by showing their private action without closing window. Surprisingly you can find somewhere there, a hanger with colorful lady's underware (7 colors, I'm not boasting!). This hanger has become so famous in Dorm M because it's so near the walkway.
Don't take those things serious because following thing is more serious: Thief. How to come across thief? So easy my friend. Just go and don't lock your bike, you'll know what is thief. Before Christmas time 2007, a lady just forgot her camera for a while and ... I guess, god has granted it a pair of wings to fly. The lady has never seen her dear camera again anymore. God also granted laptops, bicycle, wallets, USB thumb drives, and many other heavy things wings to fly. Only one creature on this earth has not been granted wings, that it human. If that Burmese lady had wings, she would not been crashed by a pickup when she passed the highway; or the Mongolian guy could be able to fly out of the swimming pool last year. Thief has encountered with following things: laptops, LCD projector, camera, wallets, USB thumb drives, bicycles, mobile phones, keys, clothes.... Oop! tell you one thing. Do you know why the laundry service is getting low revenue here? It's because of thief. People used to hang their used clothes on the door waiting for the service men from the laundry shop to collect. Lots of branded clothes have been stolen recently and the blame was on the laundry shop. People stopped the service because they don't want to lose their clothes, neither go to the shop (quite far from their room) to fetch the laundry.
